The big rival football game between Ribault High School and Raines High School will go on as planned next weekend, but with major security changes
That’s because of a fight where several Ribault students attacked the assistant principal during a pep rally.
“The game will still take place on Nov. 4th at 2 o’clock, here at Ribault High School,” Principal Chris Jackson said.
Jackson said there will be heavy security at the game.
“We already met with our security staff and school police, in regards to a management plan for the game,” Jackson said.
It’s a necessary action, Jackson said, especially after several students attacked the assistant principal during a pep rally last week.
“The situation that happened on last Friday was not one that anyone would desire to happen,” Jackson said.
“We believe that this was an isolated incident. Incidents happen all over the county, however, this because of social media, it made it bigger, but it’s such a small percentage of our students,” PTSA President Tameka Gaines said.
Superintendent Patricia Willis said the violent behavior is something she will not allow.
“We don’t expect any student to put their hands on an employee, to intentionally cause harm. That is totally unacceptable,” Willis said.
Jackson said he’s pleased with the security changes in place for the game and at Ribault High School. He also said there will be no more outdoor pep rallies.
