Jacksonville firefighter arrested after allegedly slapping wife

A Jacksonville firefighter was arrested at a fire station after he allegedly slapped his wife in the face during an argument, according to his arrest report.

Harry Francis, 43, was arrested for domestic battery on Nov. 27.

The victim told police they were standing in a hallway arguing when Francis pushed her away from him, according to the report.

She said they moved to another room and she told him she was going to call his chief. The report says that's when he back-hand slapped her in the mouth.

Officers said her lip was swollen and had an abrasion on the inside.

The report says officers located Francis at a fire house. He told police he and his wife got into an argument and he pushed her away after she got in his face.

He said she attempted to snatch a phone out of his hand and something hit her in the face, the report said.

Harris was taken to the Duval County Jail.

JFRD's Public Information Officer, Tom Francis, provided Action News Jax with the following statement Thursday morning:

"Engineer Francis (no relation!) has been with JFRD since April 2008 and has been reassigned to a 40 hour week pending the outcome of all investigative measures. None of us were available beginning in the afternoon yesterday due to Recruit Class 318’s graduation activities."
