Deadly crash on Monument Road takes 17-year-old Jacksonville boy’s life

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 7:45 p.m.:

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Monument Road around 5 p.m. this afternoon.

Officers said an orange Nissan 350z was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when it crossed the median and collided head-on with a GMC Denali that was traveling northbound.

The Nissan rolled several times, ending up in a fence.

The 17-year-old boy who was the passenger in the Nissan died at the scene of the crash.

The 16-year-old boy who was driving of the Nissan sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

The man driving the Denali also sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department is responding to a reportedly deadly crash on Monument Road in Fort Caroline.

JFRD said the crash happened near Cobblestone Parkway, which is right in front of Ed Austin Regional Park.

One person is reportedly trapped in a vehicle.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, as delays are expected.
