Northeast Fl. foster teens take on ropes course in program modeled after Survivor, Amazing Race

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A dozen teens in Northeast Florida foster care pushed their limits on a ropes course and zip line Wednesday as part of a program modeled after Survivor and the Amazing Race.

The teens aged 14 to 17 took on the University of North Florida courses to develop trust, communication and team-building skills.

The outing was one of many activities that comprise The Challenge, a three-month long enrichment program provided by Family Support Services of North Florida.

The program incorporates challenging activities with life skills that focus on education, careers, health and community service.

It aims to inspires foster teens to develop new skills, test abilities and push themselves to succeed.

Other adventures include canoeing, horseback riding and camping.
