JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office say a man was found dead on the side of the road in the Mayport area.

- JSO was dispatched to the 1100 block of Featherwood Dr. S. for a person on the side of the road just after midnight on Monday
- It was first believed to be a hit-and-run incident, but evidence at the scene indicated foul play
- The victim is described as a 26-year-old white man
- It is unknown at this time if the incident took place on the side of the road or at another location
