JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating an inmate who died in their custody.
James Basham, 35, was serving a 15-day jail sentence for an expired tag and driving on a suspended license, his wife Danielle Basham says he died a week into his stay at Montgomery correctional center.

“On the seventh day that he was in there an officer showed up at our house and told us my husband had a brain injury and told us I needed to get to Shands right away.” Basham said.
JSO said they suspect no foul play, their cold case unit is investigating per protocol and are waiting for the medical examiner results.
Basham wants to know what exactly killed her husband.
She says she is waiting for the ME office to give her the final results of the autopsy report.
