JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating after a young man was shot in the leg while standing at the mailboxes at the Timothy Landing Apartments at 7850 Melvin Road on the Westside.
The man told police that a man and a woman approached him while he was at the mailboxes and the man fired five rounds at him, one striking him in the leg.
After he was shot the man drove to the 4800 block of Ortega Farms Circle, where police were called.
He was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, as police do not have a description of the man and woman. Police do not know if the man and woman had a relationship with the victim.
