JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Work on the Main Street Bridge will detour some drivers and pedestrians soon.
Beginning Sunday, August 24, and lasting until January 30, 2027, there will be lane and pedestrian walkway closures as part of the Riverfront Plaza Main Street Bridge Nub Removal Project. The purpose is to remove the now-closed turning lane from Independent Drive to the bridge.
While that’s happening, the southbound lanes of the bridge toward Riverplace Boulevard will be reduced to one lane. The southbound pedestrian walkway will be closed for the duration of the project.

Signs will be posted to reroute walkers and bike riders.
Northbound traffic will remain open with two lanes throughout the project.
Anyone crossing the bridge should plan for delays or take alternate routes while the project is underway.
