Trent Fort, a 16-year-old student at West Nassau High School, died Monday after he was shot in the chest, his mother Paige Fort said.
Fort's mother, his brother and his sister are devastated by his loss.
Trent Fort The Nassau County Sheriff's Office said he was shot at a stop sign in Spring Lake Estates around 4:30 p.m. Fort and four to five other people were inside a car when the shooting started.
The person believed to be the shooter, a 17-year-old, is in custody. Another suspect, who is under 18, was taken into custody at the McDonald’s in Callahan.
