JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Public Works is trying to remove a piece of heavy equipment from a drainage ditch in Northwest Jacksonville.
It has been stuck since Monday.
The city says heavy rains softened the ground and could have caused it to give way.

Workers have been cleaning out the ditch to improve drainage, something neighbors are happy to hear about.
“At times when it rains two or three days at a time you go down to the dead end roads and it would be waist deep on me. And I'm 6 feet 5 inches, so what does that tell you,” said Thomas Hall, a neighbor.
The director of Public Works said they hoped to have the equipment out of the ditch by Tuesday night.
