Teenager shot in face by armed group leads to crash into Riverview residence, JSO investigating

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reported an incident in the Riverview area near the 2200 block of 5th Avenue, where a teenager sustained a gunshot wound to the face.

According to JSO, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 2200 block of 5th Avenue following reports of a person shot.

When arriving at the scene, Officers discovered an adult male in his late teens who was promptly transported to a local hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The victim reportedly suffered a single gunshot wound to the face.

Initial investigations indicate that the victim was accompanied by two individuals, identified as an adult male and a female.

According to the briefing, the trio was in a car, planning to meet someone. However, upon arrival, they were confronted by multiple armed individuals who opened fire into the vehicle.

In an attempt to escape the situation, the victim’s vehicle reportedly sped away but crashed into a local residence. Residents rushed to the scene to provide aid and promptly contacted the police.

The other two occupants of the vehicle were not injured nor were the occupants of the residence.

As of now, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not released any suspect descriptions or whereabouts.

The investigation into this alarming incident is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
