Greenland Road near Philips Highway in Jacksonville's Mandarin neighborhood, is closed so crews can fix the railroad crossing there, but the construction is causing major traffic delays.
The same issue forced major delays for folks Monday trying to get to work and school.

“It’s horrible all the people trying to get out of these neighborhoods and go to work and go to the schools,” said Ann Parker, a local resident.
Parker said she left her home around 7:50 a.m. Monday and didn’t get her kid to their school just a mile and a half away until 9 a.m. because of the railroad repairs at Greenland Road.

“Everybody’s going this way and it’s just everyone’s backed up in the neighborhoods, it’s terrible,” said Parker.
Monday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office tweeted about the closure and how it should reopen Tuesday evening.

Florida East Coast Railway said this work is regularly scheduled maintenance done every 10 years and also said the work should finish up later today.
