Report: 'Possible' transgender suspect and a man steal $750 in booze from Julington Creek Publix

WEIRD FLORIDA: St. Augustine man has jaw broken by brachal stun

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is seeking two people who loaded a Publix shopping cart full of liquor and tried to walk it out of the store.

The incident happened July 24 at the Publix Liquors off Race Track Road. A black male and black female -- possibly a transgender male -- entered the store and filled a cart with approximately $750 worth of liquor and fled the store.

The clerk tried to grab the cart and stop them by grabbing the cart full of liquor, but the female brandished a knife, deputies say. The clerk then released the cart.

Action News Jax Courtney Cole spoke to Kinsey Perret, the Manager of Makk Fashions Boutique. It’s located directly next door to Publix Liquors.

Perret said it's scary to know something like that could happen during business hours.

"I actually found out during my shift today, so it was startling,” Perret said.

Perret said they've also had problems with someone trying to steal from their boutique. But now, this incident is going to encourage them to take more action.

“We're definitely going to beef up security here, have more cameras and be more careful and aware of everyone,” Perret said.

The suspects fled in a dark grey sedan with no tag attached. If caught, the two could be charged with armed robbery and grand theft.

Deputies said the female was taller than the male. She was wearing a black t-shirt with a gold design on the front, black yoga style pants and sandals and was described as wearing a lot of thick makeup.

The report said that the male was wearing maroon pants, a white t-shirt and and Gucci slides.

Anyone with any information concerning these suspects is asked to contact Major Crimes Detectives at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office at (904) 824-8304.
