Shoeboxes of Love Drive: How you can bring holiday cheer to homeless families in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Christmas is less than two months away, and the City Rescue Mission in Jacksonville wants you to consider picking up a few items for the homeless this holiday season.

To help bring some cheer to thousands of homeless families, the organization is asking you to join them in its Shoeboxes of Love Drive.

They ask that you place hygiene items and any other kind gifts you wish to give in a shoebox. They want the shoebox to then be wrapped in a blanket and a bow. The blanket will help keep the homeless warm as temperatures begin to drop.

The hope is to deliver over 5,000 shoeboxes of love to homeless families this Christmas.

The drive begins Sunday, Nov.1 and runs through Friday, Dec. 18.

You can drop off the shoeboxes at the City Rescue Mission located at 426 McDuff Avenue South.
