Snake confuses golf balls for chicken eggs

The snake had mistaken golf balls for chicken eggs and ate them.

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- A rat snake in Georgia is alive tonight thanks to a team of doctors at the Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island.

The center reports the grey rat snake was recently found in a chicken coop in north Georgia.

In its stomach were two golf balls that the snake surely thought were chicken eggs.

Veterinarians say they were able to cut the foreign objects out of the snake with little complications but are monitoring the snake for any type of infection.

No word on when the snake will be released by the center.

The GSTC was created in 2007 by the Jekyll Island Authority and maintains the goal of protecting and conserving wildlife in Georgia.
