Some residents at Fernandina Beach nursing home still need to be 'adopted' for the holidays

FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — A local nursing home hopes its residents are not forgotten this holiday season.

The Quality Healthcare and Rehab Center tells Action News Jax that 24 of its residents still need to be "adopted" in their "Adopt an Angel" program.

We went to the facility and learned volunteers can go to the front desk to contact Tammy Lynch, the activity director, if they want to help.

The facility will assign volunteers an adoptee or accept donations for staff members to buy presents for them.

No glass or combustible items are allowed on the premises, but clothes and blankets are always welcome.

We spoke to one resident who talked about the Adopt An Angel program.

“After everybody starts getting their stuff, they’ll all be going up and down these hallways sporting it. It’s almost like a big fashion show,” Tommy Burbank said.

The deadline to adopt is Dec. 15. All residents will get presents.
