Thai restaurant closed for roaches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For the past two weeks, there have not been any restaurants shut down. However, two were closed due to roaches in this week's Restaurant Report.

At Thai Cuisine & Noodle House on San Jose Boulevard, a health inspector counted seven live roaches, saw a blackish-green mold-like substance in the ice machine and there were no paper towels by the hand wash sink. It was temporarily shut down, but met inspection standards in the follow-up inspection.

A health inspector visited 23 Flavors on Confederate Point Road in Jacksonville. The health inspector counted 15 live roaches, saw dead roaches in restrooms and counted anywhere from 25-30 flies in the wash room. It was temporarily shut down and reopened the next day after two follow-up inspections.

Gourmet Hut in St. Augustine was just on the Restaurant Report in December and is back on the report this month. The inspector counted between 12 and 15 rodent droppings under a register, one dead roach and issued a stop sale on five items, including milk and roasted garlic butter. A follow-up inspection was conducted and Gourmet Hut met the inspection standards.
