Suspect arrested in Trout River fatal shooting and stabbing incident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — UPDATE: The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that after a murder investigation for the fatal shooting, a potential suspect has been arrested.

Early Sunday morning, on March 5, 2023, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to a shooting incident on the 3400 block of Trout River Boulevard.

According to the authorities, the officers arrived on the scene at around 4:00 a.m., where they found an individual in the yard of a residence who appeared to have been shot. The victim, identified as a 38-year-old Black Male, was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

While investigating the shooting, the officers discovered another victim at the scene with wounds that suggested he had been stabbed. This victim was taken to a local hospital for medical attention. A third victim also arrived at a hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Following an initial investigation and the evaluation of available evidence, the Homicide and Crime Scene Units of JSO were able to identify a person of interest in the case.

The investigation led to the arrest of Derrion Lamonte Parker-Hinton, a 19-year-old male. Parker-Hinton was arrested without incident for the murder of the shooting victim.

The authorities have not yet released any information on the motive behind the shooting or the relationship between the victims and the suspect.


ORIGINAL: Reports from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office State that at approximately 4 a.m. a fight broke out outside of a home on Trout River Boulevard.

Officers state that once they arrived on the scene a man in his late 30s was located suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later declared dead.

Police then Located a second man in his late 30s with a non-life-threatening stab wound.

And then a 3rd person in his late teens walked into a local hospital to be treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound.

At this time no suspects have been identified and police are at the scene looking for more evidence.

There are, however, multiple witnesses and JSO is interviewing those individuals.

As they search for the suspect, they believe there could be more than one, as JSO does not believe that suspect was the same person was responsible both for the shooting and stabbing.
