The ultimate tailgate experience is underway as RV City opens outside TIAA Bank Field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Fans from all over the country are showing up In Jacksonville for the Georgia-Florida game.

Some RVs and trailers are decorated to reflect their favorite teams. Chris Lucero of St. Augustine has met longtime friends from past years in RV City.

“One time a year when we get to link up other than being natty dogs and be in Indianapolis together for the national championships this past year,” said Lucero. 

For Lucian “Luke” Lawley, he’s continuing a tradition that started with his late wife Debbie Brooker-Britt, who died from lung cancer this past September.

“She’ll be here in spirit. I wanted to set up her memorial. Everybody down Gator Alley knows her and loves her,” said Lawley. “I’ll continue to do it as long as I can, you know. As long as I can stay a good Gator fan, haha.” 

The Hinojosa family of Orlando are setting up their gear. It is their eighth year coming to Jacksonville for the game. Henry Hinojosa wants to create memories that will last a lifetime.

”As my kids grow up, as they get bigger, I want them to remember that we did this as a family. Had fun as a family and met a whole bunch of people, and not only that they, they go for the bulldogs,” said Hinojosa.

Rich Dean has been coming to RV City for more than 15 years. His friends named him the mayor of RV City for his the extravagant itinerary for the week. 

“We set up a full gamut all week long. We’re here getting set up. It is just like Christmas for me and my wife Sandy. She’s setting up the rugs now, and we’ll get our tents out, set up our bars and everything. Its a good time,” said Dean. 

In the days to come out of the RV City will be at full capacity with music, food and drinks the ultimate toga party before the big Georgia vs. Florida game.
