JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Flower Market hosted “Dolly Parton Day” on Friday, with patrons donning their best dresses to celebrate the late country singer.
The market, on Beach Boulevard near Southside, gave those who dressed like Dolly a free flower bouquet. As shoppers browsed themed flower arrangements, Dolly’s music played throughout the market.
“‘Dolly Parton Day’ at Jacksonville Flower Market is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the life and legacy of the country music star,” market staff said in a news release
Parton had a love for flowers. She wrote and performed songs titled “Wildflowers,” “Rose of My Heart,” and “Yellow Roses,” which topped the singles chart in 1989.
“Following the passing of Dolly Parton, (we) wanted to create a way to honor Dolly that combined our experience of brightening someone’s day with flowers,” staff said in the release.
