Police: Woman killed outside Jacksonville gas station

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman has died after being shot outside a local gas station while sitting in her car, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to the gas station located on Edgewood Avenue West near Avenue B at 9 a.m. Monday.

Police said they found a woman who had been shot several times. JFRD pronounced her dead at the scene.

JSO said it appears the woman was targeted by a man. Officers say he parked behind the woman, approached her and fired several shots into her car. JSO said the man, “described as a thin Black male,” left the area in a silver Nissan Rogue SUV.

Police said they are working to identify the woman and learn the relationship between her and the man.

Detectives are gathering surveillance video and are interviewing witnesses.

Anyone with any information is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500, email at jsocrimetips@jaxsheriff.org or call CrimeStoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
