Police seeking 'snake snatchers' in California

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Police are seeking the public's help in nabbing two suspects seen on surveillance video stealing a snake from a pet store in California.

The incident took place Aug. 24 at Elliotts’ for Pets in Riverside. The video, posted on the Riverside Police Department's Facebook page, shows a male and female walking into the pet store. The male lifts the top from a tank of snakes, and removes a red-tailed boa. He hands the snake to the female and places the top back on the tank. The suspects exit the store with the snake.

DO YOU RECOGNIZE THESE SNAKE THEFT SUSPECTS? On Friday, August 24, 2018, at about 8:16 p.m., an unknown couple entered Elliotts’ for Pets, located in the 6700 block of Brockton Avenue. The female suspect stood near the male suspect as he crouched down, opened the top of a snake tank, and removed a small Red Tailed Boa. He then handed the live snake to the female suspect while he placed the top back onto the tank. Both suspects then exited the store. The male suspect is described as a Hispanic adult, approximately 5’10, 200 pounds with black hair. The female suspect is described as a Hispanic adult, approximately 5’2, 125 pounds with brown hair, and appears to be pregnant. The Riverside Police Department said the male suspect is described as a Hispanic adult, approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with black hair. The female suspect is described as a Hispanic adult, approximately 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds with brown hair and appears to be pregnant.
