Two men are accused of drug trafficking and possession after authorities raided an alleged methamphetamine lab in northern Georgia on Wednesday.
According to a news release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Dustin Tyler Burgess, 34, of Ellijay, Georgia, and Uriel C. Mendoza, 30, of Copperhill, Tennessee, were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and manufacturing methamphetamine in the presence of children.
According to the release, agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office received information about suspicious activity at a residence in Canon, located in Franklin County. After obtaining a search warrant, agents found a conversion lab inside one of the buildings on the property.
According to WSB-TV, the building was a horse stable that was used to convert liquid methamphetamine to crystal methamphetamine for distribution.

Agents seized approximately 5 kilograms of finished crystal methamphetamine and approximately 255 gallons of liquid meth solution, according to the GBI. Officials estimated that the lab was capable of producing more than 700 kilograms of crystal meth, which has an estimated street value of more than $7.8 million.
Agencies assisting in the investigation included the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Banks County Sheriff’s Office, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, and the DEA Clan Lab Team.
