‘Days of Our Lives’ legend John Aniston, father of actress Jennifer Aniston, dead at 89

Legendary soap opera star John Aniston, who captivated daytime audiences for more than three decades as the calculating Victor Kiriakis on “Days of Our Lives,” died Friday, his daughter, actress Jennifer Aniston, confirmed via social media.

In a Monday morning Instagram tribute to her father, “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston wrote, “You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time.”

A cause of death has not been released, Deadline reported.

Born in Crete, Greece, in 1934, John Aniston’s acting credits also included TV series “Search for Tomorrow,” “The West Wing,” “Gilmore Girls” and “Mad Men,” People magazine reported.

According to Deadline, John Aniston began his acting career in 1962, after a stint in the U.S. Navy, with a small role on the TV series, “New Man in the Precinct,” and by 1970 he had become a regular presence on several daytime soap operas.

He received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards on June 18, the entertainment news outlet reported.

Along with Jennifer, John Aniston is survived by a son, Alex Aniston, and his second wife, Sherry Rooney, People reported.
