JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The coronavirus is the third leading cause of death among African Americans according to a report from the Brookings Institution.
Agape Family Health is partnering with the City of Jacksonville alongside the Northeast Florida COVID-19 Community Collaborative which comprises the following organizations: NAACP, Jacksonville Urban League, 100 Blackmen of Jacksonville, D.W. Perkins Bar Association, Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy, First Coast Black Nurses Association, Hispanic Medical Society and the Northeast Florida Medical Society.
The goal of this partnership is to provide free access to testing to high risk communities.
Agape Family Health CEO Mia Jones said the coronavirus pandemic has shined a light on what’s been known in the medical profession for decades: that people of color are more likely to have poor health outcomes.
Jones said testing is free and at least 100 nasal swab tests will be administered each day.
Testing will begin Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Centennial Tower. located at 230 E. 1st St 32208.
