Former Jags RB Maurice Jones-Drew announces retirement from NFL

Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has announced his retirement from the NFL on Twitter. He made the announcement just before 5 p.m. Thursday.

He posted, "After much discussion with my family and business team during this offseason, I've decided to retire from the National Football League."

He went on to say, "To my fans and nfl fans worldwide, you are the absolute greatest. But now I'm excited about looking forward to the next chapter of my life."

Jones-Drew played for the Jaguars for eight seasons and for the Oakland Raiders for one season.
