“Empire” was hacked.
Early in the episode, Andre discovers that Empire XStream, the company’s streaming service, was hacked. Andre hires a digital expert to access the problem, but the hack continues to grow, expanding into all parts of Empire. Even Jamal’s music was hacked while he was in the studio.

Lucious and Andre interrogate Tiana, and they suspect her ex-boyfriend Gram is behind the cyber-attack. They sneak into his house to ask him about the hack. He denies it, but Lucious tells Shyne to beat him up anyway.
The final scene of the episode shows that the person behind the hack was actually Andre. He was working with Vaughn, a music mogul and someone who Lucious considers a friend. Andre set up the hack so that he could fix the problem and be named president of Empire XStream.
Jamal nearly overdosed.
Jamal has been suffering with prescription drug addiction since he was shot in season 2. D-Major came over to work with him on music and noticed Jamal was talking and moving quickly. Jamal approached him romantically, and he seemed to forget about his abnormal behavior.
Later, D-Major tries to wake Jamal up in bed, but Jamal is unresponsive. D-Major calls Phillip, Jamal’s therapist. They put him into the shower and he wakes up after a burst of cold water.

Cookie’s cookies were leaked.
The Empire hack also impacted the staff’s email. Cookie sent Angela a nude picture of herself, and it was leaked. Since Angelo is running for mayor, Cookie faced scrutiny for the nude photo.
Cookie told Angelo she probably shouldn’t date him anymore because of her rough past and the leaked photo incident. In response, when questioned by TV reporters about the nude photo, Angelo stripped his own clothing to support Cookie.
Watching from home, Cookie roots for Angelo, then surprises herself by confessing she loves him aloud.
