Two people were killed and 30 more injured early Sunday when an Amtrak train en route from New York to Savannah derailed near Philadelphia.
Amtrak Train 89 struck a backhoe that was on the tracks, according to a statement by the company, causing the lead engine to derail.
There were approximately 341 passengers and 7 crew members on board.
Northeast Corridor service between New York and Philadelphia is suspended.
Investigators are looking into why the backhoe was on the tracks.
