City Council votes unanimously to add “Henry L. Aaron Field” name to J.P. Small Memorial Stadium

Jacksonville, FL. — Tonight at the Jacksonville’s City Council meeting, members unanimously voted to add the “Henry L. Aaron Field” name to J.P. Small Memorial Stadium in honor of the legendary baseball player.

This is the field that the late Hank Aaron played on during his time as a player on the Jacksonville Braves.

Today marks the anniversary of his major league debut in 1954.

“Hammerin’ Hank” is best known for breaking Babe Ruth’s record of 714 career home runs.

Before members voted, they had the opportunity to speak with Hank Aaron’s son, Lary Aaron.
