Fetch Rewards: 5 Things You Need to Know to Get Free Gift Cards

Do you want to earn rewards just for doing your everyday shopping? Fetch Rewards lets you do exactly that: This shopping app lets you leverage your normal purchases to get free gift cards from major retailers.

I’ve been using Fetch for over a year, and it’s one of the easiest shop-and-earn apps I’ve tried. In this article, I’ll tell you exactly how to use Fetch to earn points and redeem them for gift cards.

5 Things to Know About Fetch Rewards

Unlike some other popular rewards apps, Fetch Rewards doesn’t make you clip digital coupons before shopping; You simply get rewards for scanning receipts.
Below, I’ve listed all the details including how to get started, maximize your earnings and redeem points for free gift cards.

What Is Fetch Rewards?

Fetch Rewards is a free shopping app that awards points in exchange for scans of your receipts. You can then redeem those points for gift cards.

Fetch accepts receipts from many types of stores. For each eligible scan, you'll earn at least five points.

At any given time, the app features certain brands and products, so you can get bonus points for an eligible purchase. However, the beauty of Fetch Rewards is that you don’t have to do any planning to earn.

Always remember to comparison shop for the best price rather than chasing points. Just do your normal shopping, and the app will do the rest.

You can redeem points for gift cards once you’ve earned a set amount of points. Generally, 1,000 points are equivalent to $1.

How to Use Fetch Rewards

Now that you know what to expect from Fetch, let’s talk about how to use it.

Download the Fetch Rewards App

You can get the app on your iOS or Android device. Open it and create an account. You can log in with your Google or Facebook account, or you can sign up with your email and a password.

Earn Points

Scan a receipt from a purchase you've made in the past two weeks. Any receipt older than 14 days is ineligible to earn points.

Make sure that you line up the edges and focus the camera to take a clear picture. For long receipts, click “Add Section.” Once you’ve captured the entire receipt, select “Submit.”

In the next section, I’ll give you even more tips on how to maximize your Fetch Rewards points.

Monitor Your Points and Spending

You’ll earn points from every eligible receipt you scan into the Fetch Rewards app. On the Activity page, you’ll be able to see graphs that help you track where your scanned receipts are from, how much you spent and when you spent your money.

This is nice for earning points, but the data can also help you track your overall spending and create a budget, something money expert Clark Howard always recommends.

Redeem Your Fetch Rewards Points

Exchange points for free gift cards by going to the Rewards page and scrolling through your options under Use Points.

You can redeem points for gift cards when you accrue as few as 3,000 points. Gift cards are available in set dollar amounts generally ranging from $3 to $50.
There are gift cards available from major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target and more!
When you have enough points to redeem for a gift card, you’ll see a yellow ring around the dollar amount of the gift card you select. Tap the amount, then click the “Get My Reward” button.
You’ll see any gift cards you’ve traded on the Rewards page under My Rewards.

Tips For Maximizing Your Earnings

Here are a few key features and products to check out so you can maximize your Fetch Rewards points:

Featured Brands and Products

Fetch features a rotating list of brands and products that earn extra points when you purchase. But remember to comparison shop, because you don't want to pay more for a product just to earn points.

Special Offers

On the Discover page, Fetch will show you limited-time bonuses that you can earn by making a specific purchase or completing a task. Although there’s often a stated time limit, these offers pop up frequently, so keep an eye out for specials.

Connected Accounts

You can connect your Amazon and email accounts to redeem eligible eReceipts quickly and easily. Fetch draws receipts from your connected accounts so that you can earn points on eligible purchases.

Each time you want Fetch to search your connected accounts for new receipts, click the blue “E” icon at the bottom of the screen on the Discover or Activity page.

SingleCare with Fetch

Another way to earn is by using the SingleCare pharmacy card associated with your Fetch Rewards account. SingleCare is a service like GoodRx or Rx Saver that saves you money on prescriptions at participating pharmacies.

By using this card, you'll get pre-arranged prices for your medications that have been brokered by SingleCare and the pharmacy. You'll earn Fetch Rewards points when you use the SingleCare card.

Remember to comparison shop the price of your prescription before using SingleCare or any service like it.

Is Fetch Rewards Legitimate?

Fetch Rewards is a safe and legitimate company that awards real gift cards for points that you can collect for free, just by scanning your shopping receipts. Points may expire on your account if it is inactive for 90 days.

If you’re worried about security, there are a few things you can do to help protect yourself:

  1. Create an account from scratch rather than using Facebook or Google.
  2. Use a unique password.
  3. Don't connect your email or Amazon accounts.

Final Thoughts

If you want to earn free gift cards without a lot of extra effort, Fetch Rewards is a great app to use. Uploading receipts to Fetch and other apps like Ibotta will maximize your earnings and save you more in the long run.

One limitation of Fetch is that you can redeem points only for gift cards. There is no option to redeem points for cash.

But Fetch Rewards requires no planning or coupon clipping. All you have to do is go shopping then scan your receipt. This makes it a great option if you want rewards without much work.
