Duval County Public Schools releases guidelines for high school proms

Jacksonville, FL. — With prom season quickly approaching, Duval County Public Schools has developed guidelines to keep students safe during the pandemic while allowing them to enjoy a high school tradition.

The district is enabling the class of 2021 to host senior prom, but they have to adhere to specific guidelines.

Seniors are the district’s main priority, but it is up to the school to determine whether the senior is allowed to invite a younger student.

Only students of that school will be allowed to attend the prom.

All prom activities must be held at an outdoor venue.

Face coverings and temperature checks will also be required upon entering the event.

If the student chooses to attend the prom, they will be asked to transition to virtual learning for 10 calendar days following the event and can not participate in extracurricular activities during that time.
