Complaint: Suit filed after administrators accused of taking no action following threat at school

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A mother and daughter have filed a suit against Duval County Public Schools, DCPS police, a security guard that worked at Raines High School and the principal of the school at the time of the incident after no action was taken following an alleged attack at school, according to a complaint.

  • According to a newly filed complaint, on April 9, 2018 a group of students were harassing a girl at Raines High School. The girl allegedly informed school authorities, “but no actions were taken by school administrators.”
  • The next day, the complaint says the student was attacked in the locker room at Raines High School. According to a witness, during the fight the security guard punched the student in the head at least three times. The student was hospitalized for brain trauma.
