Putnam County students start the new school year

PALATKA, Fla. — As Putnam County Schools resume in-person learning, there are safety protocols being put into place.

This semester, parents, volunteers, and visitors will not be present on campus except by appointment.

The district asks anyone who is sick with fever, respiratory, or gastrointestinal symptoms to stay home. They advise students who have been in close contact with someone who has had symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home for 14 days, monitor themselves for symptoms, and consult with the local health department. The district defines “close contact” as “within 6 feet for at least 10 minutes.” If a students needs to quarantine will receive teacher support while at home. A Chromebook will be checked out to the student if needed, so that they may continue to work in Canvas, PCSD’s Learning Management System.
