FHP reported that a large 2020 Freightliner Tractor-Trailer, transporting large steel tanks as cargo, traveled north on I-75. As the unit traveled under the Southwest 66 Sr. and Williams Rd. overpass, the top of the tank struck the underside of the overpass.

The underside of the concrete overpass sustained significant damage which required all northbound lanes to be closed for inspection, cleanup, and repairs.

Debris removal, and possible temporary repairs, are expected to last for the next 3 hours or longer, troopers said at 2 p.m.

All southbound lanes are open but travel is very slow with an approximate 10-mile backup.
