Local child care centers are working to keep their centers coronavirus free — on top of passing their state inspections. In this week’s Kid Care Report Action News Jax’s Letisha Bereola tells you how two centers are working to stop and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The first day care in this week’s Kid Care Report is Primrose School on Crosswater Parkway in Nocatee. Action News Jax obtained an email the center sent to parents Sunday announcing it was going to take a “proactive one week closing” so it can address COVID-19 concerns.
Primrose stated in the letter half of the staff has been tested and they will be testing the whole staff. The letter says 5 teachers have tested positive for COVID-19. Here’s the breakdown:
3 infant teachers, 1 toddler teacher and 1 early preschool teacher all received positive results. The letter said the teachers were not symptomatic at school and were not cross-exposed to one another.
According to the letter, they’re determining the children who need to be tested and quarantined. From now on, any child sent home sick with a fever and any other symptom will be required to get a COVID-19 test before returning, according to the letter. READ THE LETTER BELOW:
Action News Jax checked its last state inspection (March) and found it was 100% compliant.
Bereola has made contact with the director and asked for a comment. If the center sends a statement, we will update the story.
The next day care in this week’s Kid Care Report is Kid City USA in Oakleaf. Its latest inspection in June had no violations. Action News Jax Letisha Bereola talked to the director Jennifer Pena and asked how the center is working to keep the center COVID-19 free.
Their efforts include:
- Temperature checks
- All adults are wearing masks
- Hand sanitizers
- Frequent hand washing
Bereola picked up 5 inspections from DCF and all of them were 100% compliant. They are:
- Kid City USA Oakleaf
- Juzt Kidz Learning Centers Inc.
- The Blue Print Academy Inc.
- Pearl Academy LLC
- Hodges Blvd. Presbyterian Church
