TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The mother of a murdered Jacksonville teen will testify Tuesday at Florida's capitol about a Florida bill.
Jordan Davis’ mother Lucia McBath is expected to take the stand in Tallahassee opposing a bill that would expand Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law. The bill would make it harder to convict people using the defense.
Michael Dunn was convicted of charges in the teen's death at a Southside gas station in 2012 after an argument over loud rap music. A judge sentenced him to life in prison.
The bill would require the state to earn two convictions, one from a judge and another from a jury. Davis’ mother, who’s been outspoken on this from the beginning, won’t let it pass without trying to make a difference.
The hearing is scheduled at 9 a.m.
