Kyla Campbell

None — Kyla Campbell joined the Action News Washington Bureau in December 2012. She likes digging for news on Capitol Hill and covering how Washington, DC plays a role in stories that affect you.

Prior to joining the Cox Media Group, Kyla was a morning anchor, producer, and reporter at WBRE/WYOU in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA. Kyla interviewed former president, Bill Clinton, and Hillary Clinton, after she lost the primary election to President Barack Obama.

While working in her hometown, Kyla broke multiple exclusives regarding the questionable privatization of a state-run deaf school. The state senator who pushed for the privatization later faced corruption-related charges.

In her four years there, Kyla also did monthly reports on breast cancer patients, survivors, and research. Her mother and best friend are both breast cancer survivors.

Kyla was nominated along with her morning show meteorologist for an Emmy Award for continuing coverage of the flood of September 2011. They anchored 12-hour shifts, then reported from the field each day, while WBRE/WYOU broadcasted live for 63 straight hours from a makeshift studio.

Prior to that, Kyla worked at WJAC in Johnstown/Altoona/State College, PA, where she split time as a reporter and anchor in both news and sports. Her first job was reporting, anchoring, and producing news at WKTV in Utica, NY.

Kyla earned her M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Her undergraduate degree from Wilkes University is in Communications and Secondary Education.
