JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The newly named Westside High School matched up with the newly renovated Robert E. Lee High School for the Subway Restaurants Friday Night Blitz Game of the Week.
The Westside High Wolverines played against their Westside rivals the Lee High Generals in a match up that is personal for the Generals’ coach.
Coach O.J. Small is a graduate of Forrest High School, recently renamed Westside High School.
Small says he is familiar with the coaches and teachers from his days as a student.
He has known the head football coach at his alma mater, Coach Rodney DuBose for some time. The two even hang out during summer break.
Small says he wants Westside High to have a 9-1 season, only losing to the Generals.
The game was an intense match up for his players.
“These students grew up playing together in Pop Warner, living in the same neighborhoods,” said Small.
Westside High lost to the Generals with a 0-7 score.
