Coronavirus: Flower shops experiencing a major flower shortage, driving up prices

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Local flower shops are experiencing a major flower shortage which is driving up prices for them and for customers.

We spoke with Liz Stewart at Liz Stewart Floral Designs in Jacksonville Beach.

When you first walk up to her shop you’ll see a sign that reads “So very sorry...Due to extreme market shortages, we are sold out of fresh blooms and cannot take further fresh flower orders for this week.”

Stewart says its due to a variety of different issues, including freight demand to get the flowers delivered to the U.S. from South and Central America.

Why this shortage could effect how much you pay for flowers this Mother’s Day only on Action News Jax at 10 and 11.
