'Too close to home': Witness speaks out after 4 people shot in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Neighbors on Jacksonville's west side are speaking to Action News Jax after an overnight shooting that injured four people, including a juvenile.

The shooting happened at the intersection of Vermillion Street and West 62nd Street Wednesday night.

Joshua Jordan, 19, calls the neighborhood on Jacksonville's west side home.

"It's a pretty good neighborhood, people get alone around here," explained Jordan.

But that feeling changed around 8 p.m. Wednesday when four people became victims of gun violence, including a juvenile.

"Just crazy," said Jordan.

Jordan said he was on his porch when he heard the gunshots.

"You hear people yelling, then say, 'No, no,' then a whole bunch of shots," Jordan added.

Jordan told Action News Jax he didn't know the victims and never expected four people to get shot so close to his home.

A JSO crime map database show over the last month there were 46 reports of crime within a one-mile radius of the shooting.

According to the map, nearly a dozen of those reports involved domestic violence.

Now there's only one thing left for Jordan to do.

"You just have to stay in your own lane and pray," said Jordan.

According to JSO the four victims' injuries were not life-threatening.

If you have any information about the shooting, you're asked to call 630-0500.

To anonymously report a tip to Crime Stoppers, call 866-845-TIPS.
