JSO: 1 killed, 4 hurt in separate shootings Friday

Jacksonville, Fla. — A man is dead and four others were injured in two separate shootings overnight, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO).

Action News Jax reporter Jessica Barreto was live at one of those scenes off Shindler Drive in Jacksonville Heights early Saturday morning.

Police say it was here that a fight broke out at a small gathering of about 8 to 10 people shortly before midnight Friday. JSO tells us one man was killed, another man is in the hospital but is expected to be okay. Both men are said to be in their early twenties.

The suspect reportedly ran from the scene on foot and has not yet been located. Detectives said they are still in the process of interviewing witnesses.

Twelve miles north in the Lackawanna neighborhood police say someone shot three teenage boys.

According to officers, the three teens were found by a basketball court on Day Avenue. Thankfully, none of the boys were critically injured in the shooting.

JSO is looking for a white sedan - possibly a KIA - in connection to this shooting.

If you have any information on either incident you are asked to call JSO or Crime Stoppers.
