JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — American Red Cross volunteers responded Thursday night to assist two families who were displaced due to a fire Thursday night.
Fire crews responded to the Evergreen Club Apartments on Southbrook Drive, just off of Southside Boulevard.

Lightning reportedly struck the apartment complex causing the fire.
Five people were assisted with temporary housing and financial assistance to replace food lost in the fire, according to the Red Cross.
It is not known if either family had renter's insurance.
