Mother of woman killed in drive-by shooting begs for information

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — The heartbroken mother of a woman killed during a drive-by shooting is begging people to come forward with information about the killer.

Angela Robinson said she lost her only daughter, Shelmika Felton, and now she is desperate for justice.

There are two memorials off Tyler Street marking where Felton and Octavia Edwards were left to die on the sidewalk.

One of the victims, Felton, 34, was a mother of three children.

Robinson said Felton was in the Westside neighborhood Thursday to get her car fixed and was caught in the cross fire of a brazen drive-by shooting.

“My daughter didn’t deserve to die like this. This is killing me," Robinson said.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says Felton, and another woman were killed near Tyler Street and Windle Street around 8 p.m. after a black Sedan drove by and opened fire.

JSO calls the shooting gang-related.

“My daughter is not in a gang. My daughter is a people person. She loves everybody, everybody loves her,” Robinson said.

A Westside man said gang members come from other parts of the city and try to start trouble in the neighborhood.

And whoever is there at the time ends up being a target.

“I think it wasn’t even fair. I don’t think it was even time for them to go. I think they should have been here today,” the man said.

Action News spoke to people who live the neighborhood who say they are angry and scared that this could happen to them or their children.

Anyone who has information regarding the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and receive a possible reward of up to $3,000.
