Murder-suicide leaves 3 dead, 2 hurt, police say

Police are actively investigating a shooting they believe to be a murder-suicide.

UPDATE: Victim, shot in face during Jacksonville double murder-suicide ambush, now awake in hospital

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, officers arrived at the 11400 block of Brian Lakes Drive on the Westside, where they found three people dead inside a home.

Police believe Ryan Chesser, 33, and Eric Bryant, 32, were shot and killed by gunman Jacoby King, 26. Police found two others who had sustained gunshot wounds and were suffering life-threatening injuries.

King is reported to have dated Chesser in the recent past, according to JSO.

JSO says it is believed that after King saw Chesser while he was out hours earlier, King went to Chesser's home and ambushed the group as they returned home.

After shooting four victims, killing Chesser and Eric Bryant, JSO believes King turned the firearm on himself, taking his own life.

Two others were taken to the hospital, JSO said.

"We saw the ambulance," said a neighbor who only wanted to be identified as 'Mary.' "The police had their guns drawn."

Friends and family of Chesser and Bryant took to social media to offer their condolences.

A relative of Chesser told Action News Jax in a Facebook message, "Ryan was so full of life and love and will be remembered by so many for his bubbly personality."

About Bryant, Chesser’s friend, she told Action News Jax he "loved Disney, road trips, and being in the presence of family and friends.”

Chesser just celebrated his birthday three days ago.
