4 shot: Neighbors heard loud gun battle in street

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As of Monday afternoon, crime scene tape was still up along Linda Drive where a gun battle in the street ended with three people dead and no arrests.

JSO confirmed the identify of three of the four shooting victims as Bobby Norris III, 26, Deanta Holsey, 20 and Prosper Johnson, 17.

Investigators have been in the neighborhood since Sunday night.

Neighbors heard a gunfight and later saw bodies in the street.

Cedric Herndon said he was on the phone when the shooting began.

"At first, it was just a single pop. Pop, pop.  And then boom, boom, boom boom. I'm like, ' Oh my God,'"

Herndon said the commotion sounded like a gunfight right outside his home.

"It was two distinctive firearms, we could tell," said Herndon.

JSO first received a call at 7:45 p.m. to the neighborhood off Lem Turner Road.

When officers arrived, they found two men dead in the street, and a third man dead inside a nearby home.

Police said doctors at UF Health treated a fourth victim for a gunshot wound.  Police say she is expected to be fine.

"It's sad, it's the norm," said neighbor Felissa Thomas.  "It happens everyday.  Everyday.  Everyday."

Investigators believe several witnesses saw what  happened.  Police need them to come forward.

"This is our community and if it's people in the community we need them out," said Herndon.  "If it's people outside the community, we need them out also," he added.
