MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — An 83-year-old Middleburg man was arrested Monday after law enforcement served a search warrant at a residence in connection with a child exploitation investigation. David Cangemi was charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a victim less than 15 years old, according to a Clay County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The sheriff’s office SWAT team and Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served the warrant at a residence on Half Moon Circle in Middleburg. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service assisted in the investigation.
Cangemi, who was inside the home when law enforcement arrived, exited the residence and was detained without incident, the news release states. Detectives interviewed him while investigators processed the residence for evidence. Detectives established probable cause to arrest Cangemi following the search and interview. He was booked into the Clay County Jail pending medical clearance, the news release states.
