PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — About 70 animals were found removed from a Putnam County home on Thursday afternoon.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s office went to a home on Kyte Road in San Mateo to perform a welfare check for two developmentally challenged adults.
The deputy discovered two adults were safe, but that two other adults that were in charge of the home were keeping over 70 animals on the property.
Police say George Murwin, 71, and Laura Murwin, 56, had about 50 dogs, four birds, one horse and 15 cats at the home.

The deputy saw animal urine, dog, bird feces and bird seed in the home. The home did not have air conditioning and all of the windows were open.
A deceased puppy was found with its head caught in in the wire panel of a dog cage. One of the birds only had feathers on its neck and head.
All of the live animals inside the house were fed and watered. A horse was in the backyard with very little water. The hooves had not been trimmed, causing them to split.
The home was condemned and everyone was required to move out. An animal control officer captured all of the animals, except a few cats.
The Stewart Marchman Center is providing shelter for the two developmentally challenged adults.
