After Conch House brawl, musician doesn't play Reggae Sunday anymore

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has learned more about the fallout from a massive brawl that happened at the Conch House in May 2015.

Two bouncers, Adam Frez and Michael McClendon, who were involved in the brawl at the Conch House right before Memorial Day last year have been charged with misdemeanor battery.

The business was holding Reggae Sunday when the fight broke out. Dino McCauslin played during Reggae Sunday for more than 20 years and said he still can't believe things got so out of hand.

"That's the whole thing with the fighting thing, I just never seen anything like that happen and I don't ever want to be a part of anything like that," McCauslin said.

McCauslin said it's hard for him to think back to the brawl because things haven't been the same for him since.

"All the things I worked for while you're trying to spread one message of love and unity, which is nothing to do with religion or anything, and then you get a cross flow of something else that you never ever would expect at any reggae event," McCauslin said.

He says he no longer plays during Reggae Sunday. Even though he doesn't play there anymore, he said Reggae Sunday is still happening, but only from March through October.

We reached out to victims of that fight to see what they think of the charges: Most calls went straight to voicemail, others didn't want to comment.

But one man said he's still waiting to see if other bouncers involved will be charged.

A manager at the Conch House told us the two bouncers that were charged no longer work there.
