Apple software update causes glitch for some devices

A recent software update for Apple products is causing some major issues for customers with iPads.

The glitch is being reported from people who have a second generation iPad. They say after installing the update, their device locks up.

A viewer called us Thursday morning saying that he had this issue with his iPad, and rushed over to the Apple store at the St. Johns Town Center.

He said there were nearly 30 people waiting in line, most of them facing the same problem with their iPad after downloading the iOS 9.3 update.

He sent us a picture of the message he received on his screen right after the software update finished, saying "your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."

It then says connect to iTunes and if the problem continues to contact Apple support.

Madeline Roozco also said she attempted to update her iPad, something she has done several times before, and she had the same issue.

“It just froze on me and keeps on saying iTunes and plug in so I guess there’s a glitch or something so I can’t do anything,” says Roozco.

We did some digging on-line about the software glitch. According to Forbes, the new update iOS 9.3 includes touch ID for notes, a more personalized news app, new Apple music options for Carplay and quick actions for 3D touch.

They also suggest to do the following if you want to troubleshoot the issue at home, information they received from an Apple Support Community user.

-Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.

-Connect your iPad to your computer and backup your data, then disconnect.

-Restart the device by pressing down on the home button and power button at the same time.

-They then say may have to connect the device to the computer again, and when the option to restore and upgrade the software appears, choose it.

-Back up your information on the computer to restore device, then select to activate iPad as a “new” device

We reached out directly to Apple about the issue and they said users should use this link to get more information on how to fix your device.
