Baby returned after being abducted by grandmother, police say

Troopers arrested Jakevia Rodriguez, 30, and Latoya Rodriguez, 31, both of Colquitt, Ga. along with Precious Seymour, 23, of Miami Gardens, Fl. and Lakeysha Robinson, 29, of Satsuma Fl.

Police say a child has been returned to her mother after being abducted by her grandmother.

The St. Johns Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a missing child on Sunday.

Khadija Rodriguez told police she was arrested earlier in the day for trespassing after a warning.

Rodriguez said she gave the child to her aunt, Shanika Gadson, while she was in jail.

Gadson said Rodriguez’s mother, Lakeysha Robinson, came into her home and said she was going to take the child.

Gadson said she went to get a diaper, and when she returned Robinson was leaving with the baby.

Robinson left in a while Chevrolet HHR, according to Gadson.

Police spoke to Robinson on the phone and confirmed that Robinson took the baby.

Sergeant Michael Strausbaugh told Robinson to bring the child back and meet him at Gadson’s home.

Although she agreed on the phone, Robinson failed to come back to the house, according to police.

Just as a detective was notifying FDLE to issue an Amber Alert, the Florida Highway Patrol stopped Robinson’s car in Madison County and the child was found in good health.

Robinson was charged with felony interfering with custody of a minor.
